Job Purpose For its newly established operations in Beirut, Lebanon, Crane & Hammer are looking to employ a Director of Mechanical Engineering / Cheif of Mechnical Engineering to direct and control the company's mechanical engineering function to ensure the provision of a comprehensive maintenance and engineer¬ing service so that all processes, plant, equipment and buildings are developed and maintained to agreed standards.
Main responsibilities 1. Direct and control the staff of the mechanical engineering function to ensure that all processes, plant, equipment and buildings are maintained to agreed standards. 2. Develop the department's budget in discussion with other man¬agers and maintain any necessary systems and processes to ensure effective budget monitoring and control. 3. Monitor mechanical maintenance work to ensure that it is carried out to the required standard and within agreed budget levels. 4. Direct and control mechanical engineering projects to ensure that they are completed to the standards required within agreed timescales and to the agreed budget level. 5. Provide expert technical advice on all aspects of mechanical engineering to other managers and staff to ensure effective decision making. 6. Develop the company's strategy in relation to engineering and ensure that all maintenance standards are adhered to by staff and contractors. 7. Maintain knowledge of modem maintenance techniques, mach¬inery, processes and equipment and recommend any new syst¬ems that will enhance the effectiveness of the engineering function. 8. Recruit, train and motivate maintenance staff to ensure that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standards. 9. Ensure that all mechanical maintenance engineel'ing activities are carried out in accordance with the company's health and safety requirements and in compliance with relevant health and safety legislation. 10. Investigate and resolve any disciplinary or employee relations issues to ensure that all processes, plant and equipment continue to be maintained to the standards necessary to meet operational requirements.

. A degree in mechanical engineering; . Qualification as a chartered engineer; . Significant mechanical engineering experience of over 10 years in total, in the least; . A knowledge of working in a PMC / EPCM environment; . Experience of managing teams in a technical environment; . An ability to solve technical problems; . Good human relations, motivational and communication skills; . Knowledge of modem maintenance techniques; . Project management skills, with preferably a PMP qualification
